Pedagogy

 

Nalanda Residential School follows a student centric multi-disciplinary approach in delivering the curriculum at different stages. With the inception of National Education Policy (NEP), the curriculum delivery will be executed at four distinct stages.

Nalanda strictly follows the guidelines laid down by the CBSE and NCERT

Stage 1

Foundational Stage

3 yrs-8 yrs (Preparatory to Grade 2)

This stage comprises of flexible, multi-faceted, multi-level, play-based, activity-based and inquiry based learning consisting of alphabets, languages, numbers, art, music, dance, stories etc. The focus will be on motor, cognitive, socio-emotional, ethical development.

Stage 2

Preparatory Stage

8 yrs-11 yrs (Grade 3 to Grade 5)

This stage will be built on the foundation stage and will also begin to incorporate some aspects of formal but interactive classroom learning to lay foundation across subjects including reading, writing, speaking, physical education, art, languages, science and Mathematics.

Stage 3

Middle Stage

11 yrs–14 yrs (Grade 6 to Grade 8)

This stage will further build on the preparatory stage and more abstract concepts across subjects of science, social science, mathematics, arts and humanities will be introduced. Experiential learning with each subject and exploration of relation among different subjects will be encouraged and emphasised.

Stage 4

Secondary Stage

14 yrs–18 yrs (Grade 9 to Grade 12)

This stage will comprise of four years of multi-disciplinary study building on the subject-oriented pedagogical and curricular style of the middle stage but with greater depth and greater critical thinking, greater flexibility and students’ choice of subjects. The school offers two streams of study at Senior Secondary level viz. Science and Commerce.
